About Kevin Davidson
Parents and professionals turn to Kevin Davidson when divorce or a custody dispute puts their finances, their children, and their future at stake. Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Kevin has devoted more than 15 years to family law and understands that the best legal strategy begins with understanding what matters most to the client. He listens closely, identifies the issues that will have the greatest impact, and builds a strategy around protecting what matters most while helping clients move forward with greater stability and confidence.
Kevin brings particular depth to cases involving complex financial and family dynamics. He handles the characterization and division of separate and community property, asset tracing, and the valuation of closely held business interests, as well as custody matters involving mental health, substance abuse, or family violence. His experience as a former family-violence prosecutor, combined with his academic background in psychology, gives him insight into both the legal and human dynamics that can drive a case.
Kevin works in partnership with his clients and looks for opportunities to resolve disputes without unnecessary expense or conflict. When litigation is necessary, his courtroom experience allows him to prepare clients thoroughly, advocate strategically, and protect their interests at trial.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Types of Family Law Cases Does Kevin Davidson Handle?
Kevin is a Board Certified family law attorney who concentrates on complex divorce and contested custody. He represents individuals facing divorces with substantial or hard-to-value estates, and he counsels parents in high-conflict custody, including matters involving family violence, mental health, or addiction. He resolves many matters through negotiation and settlement, and draws on his trial experience when a case has to be decided in court. He works from Goranson Bain Ausley’s offices in Dallas, Plano, and Midland.
Does Kevin Handle Divorces Involving Family Violence or Abuse Allegations?
Yes. Kevin’s work in this area draws on his time as a criminal prosecutor of family violence before he entered private practice. He helps clients obtain protective orders and address the safety of children and spouses as a case proceeds. See GBA’s family violence and divorce services.
What Is Kevin’s Experience With High-Asset and Executive Divorce?
Kevin regularly advises business owners and executives whose divorces involve substantial estates, business holdings, and other financially complex issues. His work includes property characterization, asset tracing, and valuation in financially intricate cases. He sets strategy early and is prepared to try a case in court when that best protects his client’s interests.
Can Kevin Help With Cases Involving Mental Health or Addiction Issues?
Yes. Kevin studied psychology and anthropology before practicing law, and he draws on that background in cases where a mental health condition or substance abuse affects custody and safety. He represents parents and spouses in these matters with a focus on stability and the well-being of any children involved.
What Does It Cost to Work With Kevin?
Goranson Bain Ausley works on a retainer and hourly billing model. Because complex divorce and custody matters vary widely in scope, retainer amounts depend on the issues involved and the anticipated course of representation. During an initial consultation, clients receive information about the firm’s fee structure and what to expect throughout the process.

Beyond the Practice
Outside the office, Kevin spends most of his time with his wife, Allison, their son, and the family dog. He enjoys live music with friends, cooking for family, and planning trips to the National Parks. As a parent himself, he understands how much a family has riding on these decisions, and he treats each case as a turning point in a family’s life rather than a routine legal matter — with the goal of helping clients find stability and look toward the future.
