Angelica Rolong Cormier is a partner in Goranson Bain Ausley’s Austin office. Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, she brings 12+ years of family law experience to divorce, custody, and property matters in Travis County and the surrounding Central Texas courts. Many of her clients are millennials and professionals with young children who want to prioritize their children’s best interests through the divorce. 

Her caseload reflects the realities of modern family life: complicated custody, including infant cases, creative and unique parenting plans, cohabitation agreements, premarital and postmarital agreements, property division — both uncontested and contested — and divorces involving mental health and addiction. She is fluent in Spanish and represents many Spanish-speaking clients, and is also proficient in Portuguese.

Angelica’s approach is built around four commitments she returns to in every case: empathize with each client’s situation and minimize anxiety about what comes next, educate clients about their options and the practical co-parenting tools they can use long after the case ends, counsel clients about the law and project likely outcomes so they can make informed decisions based on the facts, and invest personally and professionally in every case she handles. Her aim is efficient, effective, and realistic family law solutions — focused, in her words, on helping people figure out what’s best for all, now and in the future.

• Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Certified in 2024 — a distinction held by fewer than three percent of Texas attorneys and requiring substantial trial and case experience, peer review, and a specialty examination.
• Bilingual representation in Spanish. Fluent in Spanish, she represents Spanish-speaking clients in all aspects of family law, including consultations, court appearances, mediation, and document review. She is also proficient in Portuguese.

Practice Focus

Angelica focuses her practice on Travis County and Central Texas family law, with particular depth in cases involving children and complex family dynamics:

• Child custody. Conservatorship, possession schedules, and modifications, including the infant and toddler cases that require careful tailoring rather than standard orders.
• Parenting schedules. Creative and workable plans for parents whose schedules, work demands, or children’s needs don’t fit a standard Texas possession order.
• Divorce. Negotiated, contested, and litigated divorce for millennials, professionals, and their spouses, including direct representation of Spanish-speaking clients in Spanish.
• Litigated divorce. Courtroom representation when negotiation has been exhausted or when one spouse refuses to engage in good faith.
• Mental health and addiction in divorce. Divorce and custody cases where mental illness, substance use, or recovery considerations affect parenting capacity and asset management.
• Property division. Characterization of separate and community property, division of the marital home, and complex property matters across contested and uncontested cases.
• Cohabitation agreements. Drafting and review for unmarried partners who want clear financial and property arrangements before — or instead of — marriage.

Recognition and Credentials

Angelica is one of Austin’s consistently recognized family law attorneys. She has been continuously listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Family Law since 2024 (after recognition in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch from 2021–2023), named to Texas Super Lawyers in 2025 and to the Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” list from 2021–2024, and selected as one of Austin Monthly’s Top Attorneys from 2022–2024.

She has held leadership roles across the Austin and Texas family law bar: Vice-Chair of the Austin Bar Association’s Family Law Section, member of the 2019–2020 State Bar of Texas Leadership Class, and prior Advisory Member of the State Bar’s Diversity in the Profession Committee. She also serves as a volunteer family law attorney and ambassador with Volunteer Legal Services— pro bono work that began at the Texas Tech Family Law and Housing Clinic in law school and has continued ever since.

Angelica has also contributed to legal education in Texas family law as co-author of “House of the Rising Sun: Real Estate Issues in Family Law” (2020 Advanced Family Law Course), author of “Starting Off on the Right Foot With Your (Potentially) New Client” (2019), and co-author of “Securing the Deal” (2017 Advanced Family Law Drafting Course) and “Daubert and Other Pre-Trial Matters” (2017 Advanced Family Law Course). She has spoken on social media in divorce at the Victoria Family Law Essentials Seminar (2019).

Beyond the Practice

Angelica’s community involvement is built around access to family law for clients who can’t otherwise afford it. She began her family law work at the Texas Tech Family Law and Housing Clinic in law school, assisting indigent members of the community with a broad range of contested and uncontested cases. That community work continues today, where she serves as a volunteer family law attorney and ambassador with Volunteer Legal Services.

Outside the practice, Angelica spends time with her husband, her two daughters, and the family’s two dogs, Ollie and Abby. The six of them are foodies and enjoy exploring Austin’s culinary scene whenever they can escape the house.
