About Franchizca K. Scipio

Franchizca K. Scipio is a family law attorney in Goranson Bain Ausley’s Austin office, focused on child custody and family matters involving children. She works with parents and individuals who need clear, steady guidance through the legal process — and who value an attorney who takes time to understand their circumstances and priorities. Family law is deeply personal, and no two situations are the same.

Her work spans a range of family law matters — preparation of divorce filings, child custody agreements including SAPCR cases, motions, and responses — with frequent legal research and evidentiary review to support case strategy. She also takes on family law cases where Child Protective Services is involved — a focus informed by a summer at the Comal County District Attorney’s Office supporting the prosecutor who represented CPS in court, and by her observation of child protection proceedings in Central Texas.

Franchizca approaches each case with careful attention and preparation. By listening closely and explaining options in a straightforward way, she helps clients make informed decisions at each stage of their case. Her goal is to bring structure and clarity to what can otherwise feel like an overwhelming experience — and to provide the consistent communication and attention to detail that family matters involving children demand.

• Trained in children’s advocacy. Served as a student attorney in both a Domestic Violence Clinic and a Children’s Rights Clinic at the University of Texas School of Law — working directly with families in high-stakes situations, including matters involving Child Protective Services.
• Court-side perspective. Interned at the Travis County Probate Court at Law No. 1 and observed child protection proceedings in Central Texas — experience that informs how she prepares custody cases and reads courtroom dynamics.
• Focused on children and families. Her practice centers on child custody, SAPCR matters, and family law issues involving children — work that builds on her clinic training and her academic interest in adoption law.

Practice Focus

Franchizca focuses her practice on family law matters involving children, with experience across the broader range of divorce and family law work:

• Child custody. Representation in conservatorship, possession and access, and SAPCR cases — including matters involving Child Protective Services, which Franchizca actively takes on at GBA’s Austin office.
• Parenting schedules. Workable possession schedules are built around the child’s stability, routine, and relationship with each parent.
• Visitation rights. Standard and modified possession orders, including arrangements that account for extended family or non-standard situations.
• Divorce. Preparation of filings, motions, and responses, with attention to the parenting and property issues that often run alongside.
• Family partner violence and divorce. Handling divorces where safety and protective measures need to be addressed alongside the family law process, drawing on her law-school clinic training.
• Adoption. Guiding families through the adoption process — an area she also explored academically through her law-school research on international adoption hosting.

Recognition and Credentials

Franchizca was named to Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America for Family Law in 2026 — peer recognition awarded by Best Lawyers in America for attorneys earlier in their careers.

She earned her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 2024, where she served as a student attorney in the Domestic Violence Clinic and as a student attorney ad litem in the Children’s Rights Clinic, and as 1L Coordinator for the Thurgood Marshall Legal Society. Her law-school research focused on the legal stability and psychological welfare of international adoption hosting. She holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice, summa cum laude, from St. Mary’s University (2020), and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2024.

Beyond the Practice

Outside the office, Franchizca participates in mentorship programs and pursues painting, creative writing, and hosting game nights with friends. Originally from San Antonio, she is the oldest of six siblings and cousins — and, as she puts it, is no stranger to family dynamics. She shares her home with her ferret, Edith.
